EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Providing EMDR is a cornerstone of Akeru Therapy. Think of the eye movements we have when asleep and dreaming. Rapid Eye Movement or REM sleep is vital to our health. It is a time we are processing what may have happened during the day even as we are unconscious. EMDR is like that only we are awake and actively participating. Eye movements are one way of eliciting dual bilateral stimulation. Tapping on either shoulder or knees, and even listening to special sounds one ear at a time, can provide this stimulation which it is theorized is restructuring our brains!
